Erick Anderson explores the collision of digital and analog imaging processes to form paintings that play with tensions between natural and synthetic spaces. Starting digitally, he creates drawings and collages from photographed subject matter. He then uses these collages as source material for physical paintings executed in acrylic paint. Although his paintings are rigorously abstracted, Erick draws inspiration from the landscape and light of the midwest as well as from luminaries of modern painting such as Diebenkorn, de Staël, and Matisse. Erick is originally from Waukegan, Illinois. He received his BA in drawing and painting from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana in 2014, and he recently completed his MFA in painting from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
